In 2018, Aung Pyitan was given the honor and opportunity to repaint and repair the Yaza Mani Sula Kaunghmudaw (Kaung Hmu Daw Pagoda) located in Sagaing Region, Myanmar.  

Process of Choosing Technical Methods/ Detail Procedure
There are two water reservoirs on each side of the pagoda. Due to these water reservoirs, there is high humidity within and around the vicinity of the pagoda body structure. 
In order to prevent from this high humidity, we planned to use breathable white colored paint - Silancolor Primer (MAPEI) and Silancolor Paint Plus (MAPEI). 

First off, we decided to take off mortar and plastering from some of the humid and areas with water leakage of the body. Afterwards, we applied Mapelastic (MAPEI - flexible waterproof and protective coating). On top of Mapelastic, ElastocolorPaint Plus (flexible elastomeric hygienic paint with crack-bridging ability) was applied. 
 

The lower four stories of the pagoda have been contaminated with water and the mortar expanded. So, we took off the plaster and mortar form these vertical walls and applied Poromap Deumidificate Mortar (MAPEI breathable lime-based cement free mortar). Poromap Finitura (MAPEI lime-based fine-texture transparent skimming mortar) is applied on top followed by Silan Color Primer Plus (MAPEI highly protective siloxane, mildew and mold-resistant primer).

 

As a final layer, Silan Color Paint Plus (MAPEI transparent, water-repellent, anti-mildew and mold hygienzing siloxane paint for internal and external surfaces) of white color is applied. 

Flat surface of the lower four stories is also applied with Mapelastic (MAPEI flexible waterproof and protective coating) together with Mapenet 150 (MAPEI alkali-resistant glass fibre mesh) to prevent from cracks formation. Moreover, the joints of vertical walls and flat surface are sealed using Mapeband (MAPEI joint sealing tape).

On those four stories flat surface walk ways, movement joints were also drilled every 10 feet apart and filled with Mapeflex PU45 (Polyurethane based flexible sealant) to prevent from shrinkage and expansion cracks.

• စေတီတော်သည် ထုထည်အားဖြင့် ကြီးမားပြီး ကိုယ်လုံးတော်မှာ လုံးဝန်သော ပုံသဏ္ဍာန်ရှိသောကြောင့် အက်ကြောင်းများဖြစ်ပေါ်စေနိုင်သဖြင့် flexible Paint အမျိုးအစား ဖြစ်သော Elastocolor Paint Plus အဖြူရောင်ဆေးအား ရွေးချယ်၍ သုတ်လိမ်းခဲ့ပါသည်။
   

• ကိုယ်လုံးတော်ရှိ ရွှေဆေးများ ဖယ်ရှားသောအချိန်တွင် တွေ့ရှိရသည့် ပေါက်ပြဲ၍ လေခိုနေသည်များကို Repair Mortar ဖြစ်သော Planitop G 40 SP ဖြင့် ပြုပြင်ခဲ့ပါသည်။ ထို့နောက် ကိုယ်လုံးတော်အတွင်း ရေစိမ့်ဝင်မှုများမရှိစေရန် အတွက် Flexible Waterproofing Coating အဖြစ် Mapelastic ကို ဦးစွာသုတ်လိမ်းပြီးနောက် Elastocolor Paint Plus အား သုတ်လိမ်း၍ ပူဇော်ခဲ့ပါသည်။
   

• နတ်ကြည့်ဘုံလေးဆင့်ရှိ ဒေါင်လိုက်နံရံ (vertical wall) နေရာတွင် ကိုယ်လုံးတော်အတွင်း၌ Moisture များဖြစ်ပေါ်လာပါက လေဝင်လေထွက်ကောင်းစေရန် (Breathable) ဖြစ်စေရန်အတွက် ရေဝင်၍ ပွနေသော မဆလာ နှင့် အဂ်တေများကို အုတ်ပေါ်သည်အထိ ခွါထုတ်ပြီး ထုံးကိုအခြေခံ၍ ထုတ်လုပ်ထားသော Lime Based Cement Free Mortar ဖြစ်သော Mapei Poromap Dehumidificante ဖြင့် ပြင်ခဲ့ပါသည်။
   

• ထို့နောက် ထုံးအခြေခံ Skin-coat ဖြစ်သည့် Mape Poromap Finitura ဖြင့် မျက်နှာပြင်အား ချောပေးပြီး လေဝင်လေထွက် ကောင်းမွန်စေသော Mineral Paint ဖြစ်သည့် Silancolor Primer နှင့် Silancolor Paint Plus ကို သုတ်လိမ်းခဲ့ပါသည်။
   

• အောက်ခြေ ဘုံလေးဆင့် လျှောက်လမ်း ပဉ္စယံ နေရာမှ ရေဝင်မှုများအား ကာကွယ်နိုင်ရန် အတွက် Flexible Waterproofing Layer ဖြစ်သော Mapelastic ကို အက်ကွဲဒဏ်ခံနိုင်သည့် Glass Fiber ဖြစ်သော Mapenet 150 နှင့်တွဲ၍ သုတ်လိမ်းခဲ့ပါသည်။
   

• နံရံနှင့် လျှောက်လမ်းအဆက်နေရာမှ ရေစိမ့်ဝင်မှုများကို ကာကွယ်နိုင်ရန် ရေလုံတိပ် Mapeband (Joint Sealing Tape) ကို တပ်ဆင်ပေးခဲ့ပါသည်။
   

• ထို့နောက် Flexible Paint ဖြစ်သော Elastocolor Paint Plus အဖြူရောင်အား သုတ်လိမ်းခဲ့ပါသည်။
   

• လျှောက်လမ်းရှိ အလျားမှာ ရှည်လျားသောကြောင့် အက်ကြောင်းများ ဖြစ်ပေါ်ခြင်းမှ ကာကွယ်နိုင်ရန်အတွက် (၁၀) ပေခြားတစ်ခါ Movement Joint ဖြတ်ပြီး Mapeflex PU 45 FT (Joint Sealant) အား Backer Rod ကိုခံ၍ ဖြည့်ပေးခဲ့ပါသည်။
